GOLF INDUSTRY

Space Electronics offers the widest range of mass properties solutions to the golf industry:

   • Our SE8913 center of gravity measurement instrument is ideal for measuring the center of gravity of golf club heads in two axes in a single setup.

   • Our XR10 moment of inertia instrument is the only instrument with integrated software that gives directly the moment of inertia through the center of gravity. This is done by automating the method proposed by the USGA (United States Golf Association), which involves several measurements and a regression analysis.

   • We also offer measurement services. Simply ship us your club head and we will measure its center of gravity and its moment of inertia through center of gravity for a fraction of the cost of a mass properties instrument.

   • We design and manufacture accurate fixtures to use on any mass properties measurement instruments.

   • We offer consulting in mass properties to help you design the best clubheads.

Moment of inertia measurement of a golf club head

Moment of inertia measurement of a golf club head on an XR10

Moment of inertia is an essential parameter of a golf club head. It indicates how forgiving the golf club is to off-center shots.

The primary moment of inertia is the one around a vertical axis when the club head is in play position. However more and more manufacturers are also interested in the other two main moments of inertia.

Precise center of gravity measurement is an essential complement to moment of inertia measurement. It allows accurate determination of moment of inertia through the center of gravity.

Fixturing club heads onto a mass properties instrument is a challenge. Datum identification and axis alignment are necessary for accurate measurement.

Our SE8913 center of gravity instrument measures 2 coordinates of center of gravity in a single setup. The club head is rotated to a second position to obtain the third coordinate of center of gravity.
