From checking missile fuzes to testing detonation cartridges, Space Electronics' multi channel, automated, failsafe circuit testers can measure electrical parameters with great accuracy while dramatically reducing the risks of accidental detonations because of their built-in safety features including fail safe modules and current limiting technology.
These modular testers are designed to measure circuit functions and check the measured values against pass/fail criteria. They can be used at both component and assembled unit levels.
Multiple circuit paths can be measured for resistance, capacitance, current, voltage, and inductance. We can also perform analog and digital waveform analysis.
Multiple safety features are built into our testers. Measurements are performed using the same fail-safe and current limiting technology used in our portable igniter circuit testers with additional protections for power under test conditions. This makes these testers ideal for use with electro-explosive devices or other circuits that may be compromised or triggered by high test currents. Additional safety features are added such as complete computer isolation and redundant fail-safe mechanisms. We offer explosion proofing per National Electric Code (NEC) class I and II.
High Accuracy Measurement allow operators to find the specific fault of a circuit, which they would not be able to find with lower accuracy measurement devices. It also keeps false fails low, thus increasing throughput.
Modular design allows the testers to be factory configured for measurement types, number of circuits measured simultaneously, total number of measurement circuits, pass/fail values for each measurement circuit, number of circuits grouped for each part being tested.
Throughput - The circuit tester cost and desired part throughput can be balanced to achieve the customer’s goals. For example, if the customer needs to process 8 parts with 4 resistive channels on each part and total measurement time is not a concern; the tester can be configured with an initial 32 to 1 selector section and a single analog front end can be used for sequential measurement of the 32 circuits. However if the customer needs to increase throughput to meet production goals, then the circuit tester can be configured with no selector stage and a full 32 analog front ends to measure all circuits simultaneously virtually eliminating settling time factors.
Automated testers provide many advantages over single channel manual testers. These testers can be configured to allow the connection of a single or multiple test units, and once connected several circuits and functions can be tested without operator intervention. At the end of the test sequence the test units that passed and/or failed are clearly identified to the operator. This eliminates the time necessary for the operators to connect, test and record the results for each individual circuit with a manual tester.
Since all measurement data is stored and processed internally the tester can generate reports, save the measurement results into a CSV file, database file or other output file for future retrieval. This also eliminates operator data recording errors as well.
Testers can also be fitted with bar code or RFID tag scanners for scanning part data and operator badges to further limit potentional operator errors.
Pass/fail criteria - After the measurements are performed, each circuit’s measured value is tested against configurable pass/fail values and then grouped by channels per part, so that each part can be reported as passing or failing its tests.
Test Process Controller - These testers incorporate an isolated computer as a test process controller. Under this controller, test articles can be exposed to other events during testing. For example if the goal is to test a circuit that arms on a specific event, the process controller can read the circuit, trigger the event and re-read the circuit and report if the arming occurred as defined.
Integration and communication with on-board controllers is available upon request. The tester controller can support a wide spectrum of on-board controller interfaces such as standard protocols for RS232, RS485, Ethernet, Asynchronous Digital serial, USB, and many other custom options.
Our circuit testers include a calibration module, traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
An optional certification and verification module can be provided for testing the measurement system on a regular interval to insure safe and accurate measurements for the life of the system. This module provides the verification of pass and failed values, accuracy, test current limits, and cabling signal paths.
These testers come in a wide selection of configurations. Several custom event control options are also available.
